I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A FEMALE PIANO PLAYER by Jenny Dale

I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A FEMALE PIANO PLAYER by Jenny Dale

I came across Jenny's work when compiling some information about Anita Lasocka (see previous posts) - I think they must have been on the same site for some reason. Anyway, I looked up Jenny's website and I really liked her work so I contacted her and immediately she was enthusiastic about being part of the project. She came down to our temporary home in the country where we were staying whilst buying and renovating a house in Brighton.
Her initial idea was to produce animalistic portraits and, as I was born in May, we decided on a bull as the animal of choice. We decided to do some shots in the nude given the bull's rampant masculinity. First of all, we shot outside in the bull's natural habitat but then decided to try some interior, less animal-like locations including me playing the piano.
Jenny then sent me some proofs of photos of me at the piano with a bull like head and tail but they did not quite work for some reason although the basic photography was superb. At my suggestion, we tried this and that and I have to say that Jenny was incredibly patient and also willing to listen to constructive suggestions from me.
After a while, I thought that we should get out of the box and think laterally and I asked her if she could put breasts on me and we could give it the title, "I always wanted to be a female piano player". She was all for it and well, voila!
A bit bizarre, but it works.

Self Portrait

Self Portrait by Tim Andrews

I do not in anyway regard myself as a photographer but I have been experimenting with some self portraits and this  one sort of sums up where I am at the moment - struggling to keep up, enjoying life immensely and living free.
